Rapsodo MLM2PRO vs MLM2XPRO: is the new model worth the extra?

Updated 13 Oct 20264 min readBuilt from published specs and prices, not hands-on testing. How we research

Short answer

The MLM2XPRO pairs Doppler radar with dual cameras and adds putting on Rapsodo's courses and a PC app, for more money up front. It is not shipping yet, and its room needs and third-party simulator support are unconfirmed. If you need GSPro or a known room size now, the MLM2PRO is the safer buy.

The MLM2XPRO is Rapsodo’s newer and more expensive launch monitor. Rapsodo says it combines Doppler radar with dual cameras and adds putting on its 30,000+ simulator courses, and it works with a new Rapsodo PC app that has 4K courses. It is only announced: when checked on 13 October 2026, Rapsodo’s page still showed a “Notify Me” button, and retailer PlayBetter said orders ship on 15 October. Everything below about the MLM2XPRO comes from pre-launch pages. If you need GSPro support or published room figures today, the MLM2PRO is the one with answers.

How each one measures

Rapsodo describes the MLM2XPRO as “Doppler radar and dual cameras”. The MLM2PRO page names “Impact Vision and dual camera”, but no source we read confirms a radar in it, so its technology is listed as not confirmed.

On paper the measured data is the same. Rapsodo tags ball speed, club speed, launch angle, launch direction, spin rate, spin axis, club path and angle of attack as measured on both. On both, spin needs RPT balls, and face angle is not in either metric list. The MLM2XPRO box includes 12 RPT balls (Titleist Pro V1 RPT, with Callaway Chrome Tour RPT as an option).

The MLM2XPRO also has an LED display with battery and connection lights, LED alignment guidance and an adjustable tripod. Rapsodo calls it its “fastest, most advanced launch monitor and golf simulator yet”, but it does not say the MLM2XPRO replaces the MLM2PRO, which is still on sale.

What you pay over three years

  • MLM2PRO: $699.99 list (it was on sale below that when checked). The Premium Membership costs $199.99 a year and unlocks spin, club path, angle of attack and Rapsodo Courses.
  • MLM2XPRO: $899.99. Rapsodo Core costs $199.99 a year. Rapsodo Studios costs about twice as much and adds 4K courses on PC. A 21-day Core trial is included.

Core and Premium cost the same per year, so the three-year gap between the two setups is just the difference in hardware price. One thing to watch: Rapsodo’s MLM2XPRO page does not clearly say which of its measured metrics are free and which need Core. Rapsodo’s blog describes a free MLM2PRO tier with 11 metrics and no simulation, and an early MLM2XPRO review describes a similar free tier. On the MLM2PRO, spin and club path are Premium features. The MLM2XPRO may work the same way, but that is not confirmed. Rapsodo also says its memberships are tied to the device, and no source says whether an MLM2PRO owner can move to Core or Studios.

Room space

The MLM2PRO sits behind the ball. Rapsodo puts it 6′6″ or more behind the ball with 8′ from ball to net, a total of 14′6″ before any space behind the unit. Taller players may need more.

Rapsodo has not published placement or space figures for the MLM2XPRO. Do not assume the MLM2PRO numbers carry over. Until Rapsodo publishes them, use the general guidance in the Bay Sizer. Most published guides say a ceiling of at least 9 ft. Carl’s Place and Shop Indoor Golf give 15 ft as a minimum room depth and 18 ft or more as recommended or ideal.

Simulator software

Both run Rapsodo’s own simulation (Rapsodo Courses) in the Rapsodo app on iPhone, iPad and Android, with the paid plan. The MLM2XPRO adds putting on those courses and a Rapsodo PC app for Studios. One early review says the PC app connects by USB-C cable “for now”. Rapsodo says its new apps keep supporting the MLM2PRO. Neither model lists a Mac app.

Third-party software is where the two differ most today:

  • GSPro: the MLM2PRO works directly through GSPro Connect on a Windows PC. It needs Premium and a GSPro licence ($250 per year), and the Rapsodo phone app must re-authenticate it every 24 hours. For the MLM2XPRO, GSPro support is not confirmed: GSPro’s official list names only the MLM2PRO.
  • Awesome Golf: works directly on the MLM2PRO, not confirmed on the MLM2XPRO, which is not on Awesome Golf’s list yet.
  • E6 Connect: Rapsodo lists it for the MLM2PRO (works directly in our records, though TruGolf names Rapsodo only as a brand). For the MLM2XPRO it is not confirmed.

PlayBetter and some Rapsodo material list GSPro, E6 and Awesome Golf for the MLM2XPRO. But Rapsodo’s MLM2XPRO product page does not mention GSPro or E6, and none of those software makers names the model yet. Check the compatibility table after launch.

Who should pick which

Pick the MLM2PRO if you want GSPro on a PC now, need published room distances to plan your bay, or want the lower hardware price. Read Garmin R10 vs MLM2PRO as well.

Wait for the MLM2XPRO if you want putting on Rapsodo’s courses, a PC app with 4K courses, or Rapsodo’s radar-plus-camera design. You may also prefer a launch monitor that comes with RPT balls. Let the first owners and the software makers confirm support before you count on GSPro.

Not confirmed yet

  • MLM2XPRO placement, distance behind the ball and ball-to-screen distance.
  • Which MLM2XPRO metrics are free and which need Core.
  • MLM2XPRO support in GSPro, E6 Connect and Awesome Golf.
  • PC requirements for Rapsodo’s PC app, and whether MLM2PRO owners can switch to Core or Studios.
  • Battery life, power source and left-handed support for both models, and putting on the MLM2PRO.
  • Whether the MLM2PRO uses radar, and official UK prices for both.
